Wave Clock 61

It looks like a flower, but the program behind it has no idea what a flower is. It starts with a single ring of 400 points joined by springs. Each frame a few of those springs are pulled slightly shorter, and the ring buckles and folds in on itself. Every shape it passes through is drawn as a fine, almost transparent line, about two thousand of them laid one on top of the next.

The image is also a clock. The first frames, while the ring is still wide, make the outer petals. The last frames, once it has crumpled into a knot, make the centre. The colour shifts a little with every frame, so the whole run can be read from the edge inward.

Each piece grows from its own random seed. The fold, the palette and the shape of the bloom are different every time, and every piece comes from the same process.
