Three instructions — move toward your neighbours, don't crowd them, go where they go — are enough to turn ten thousand starlings into a single body, wheeling over a field at dusk with no leader and no plan. That is the whole rule. Nothing in it says what shape the flock will take.
That gap is what this studio is for: how little has to go in, and how much comes out. A rule short enough to say in one sentence, repeated a few million times, arrives somewhere nobody could have drawn and nobody could have predicted — not even while holding the rule in their hand.
Every piece here is one run of such a rule, started from a single number. Change the number and you do not get a variation. You get another world.
About the studio
The studio is in Geneva, Switzerland. The work is made here — the rule, the run, and the choosing of what is worth keeping, which is the slow part.
The printing is not, and deliberately so. Each print is made at a fine-art press near the person buying it and arrives as a local parcel, printed on 250 gsm archival matte paper. A sheet posted across a border costs its buyer more in import duty and delay than the printing is worth.
Most work here is made once and sold once. The sheet says so in its own bottom margin, and a certificate names the number it came from. The FAQ says what that means and what it does not.
About this site
Work is the archive — the home page indexes every series. Each series is one rule, and its page says what the rule was.
Shop sells prints, posted worldwide. The FAQ covers paper, sizes, framing, postage and returns.
